| Feels-like temperature | How it feels | What to wear |
|---|---|---|
| 91° and above | Very hot | Light-colored, loose shirt in breathable fabric, shorts and sandals; carry water, use sunscreen and avoid the midday sun |
| 82° – 91° | Hot | Short-sleeved cotton or linen top, shorts or lightweight pants; quick-dry fabrics help in humid weather |
| 73° – 82° | Pleasant | T-shirt or light shirt, pants or a skirt; bring a light layer for air-conditioned places |
| 64° – 73° | Mild | Long sleeves, a light jacket, cardigan or hoodie |
| 50° – 64° | Cool | Jacket or fleece, jeans and closed shoes |
| 37° – 50° | Cold | Sweater plus a warm jacket, scarf, closed shoes and socks |
| 23° – 37° | Very cold | Winter coat, beanie, gloves and warm socks |
| Below 23° | Frigid | Insulated parka over thermal layers, face covering, insulated gloves and boots; limit time outdoors |
The feels-like temperature takes humidity and wind into account, so it is closer to how the weather actually feels than the air temperature. When the chance of rain is 35% or higher, bring an umbrella or raincoat and waterproof shoes; in snow and ice, wear boots with good grip; when the UV index is 6 or higher, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses and apply sunscreen.
